KARACHI: All-rounder Imad Wasim thinks that the intent is still missing from the batters after Pakistan suffered defeat by 23 runs in the second T20I against England in Birmingham.

Babar Azam and his men were bowled out for 160 while chasing the target of 184. This was England's eighth win in the last 11 T20Is against Pakistan.

While talking to the press after the game, Imad said that we need to dominate in the middle overs.

“I agree that the intent which we need is still missing, especially in the middle overs where we need to dominate, and dominating over the opponent doesn’t mean you start playing aggressively – you just need to disallow the bowler from settling with the line,” he said.

Imad came to bat at No.8 and paired with Iftikhar Ahmed in the chase. They scored quick 40 runs but the wickets fell in quick stage.

“At a point, Iftekhar and I were at the crease and we were looking to cross the line but we lost our wickets at crucial stages, if we had stayed, we would have crossed the line,” he said.

On the other hand, he stated that he is comfortable with bowling at any position, according to the team’s requirements.

“I am ready to bowl at any position, be it with the new ball or the death overs, whenever the captain feels that I should come to bowl, I will and I will try to give my best for the team,” Imad said.

“It will be decided according to the conditions,” he added.

Replying to a question regarding the combination, Imad said that with the World Cup inching closer, they are close to finalising it.

He also aimed that Pakistan will learn from mistakes and do better in future.

“It is not just about saying, we must show that we can do better,” he concluded.

It is correct, the intent was not there. Saim and Azam Khan didn't do well. The least said about Shadab, the better - He is totally out of form - no place for him.

Shadab has done well for T20 cricket but naming completely out of form bowler least all rounder is not justified once looking for best combination for WC. He should be given rest to imorove his bowling. Sending him for batting ahead of Iftikhar and In form Imad is also nit justified.
